KINSTON — Wayne Christian came up short in its quest for a second state championship with a 38-32 loss to Rocky Mount Academy in the NCISAA 8-man state championship game on Friday night at Arendell Parrott Academy.
Senior Shiquan Ethridge had three touchdown catches for Wayne Christian. Despite the loss, Wayne Christian set a school record for wins in a season and finished the season at 11-2.
