Louella Christina Soldano Garrou

Louella Christina Soldano Garrou

December 7, 2023, 81, Goldsboro —

Louella Christina Soldano Garrou, 81, departed this life for life eternal with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 7, 2023. Louella was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Louis and Eleanor Soldano on July 24, 1942. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Rev Robert K. Garrou.

Family was first and foremost in Louella’s life. Though she treasured her Children as precious, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the lights of her life. Her spirits were filled each time her grandchildren and great-grandchildren visited.

Louella was a real Renaissance gal. As a youth, she played the saxophone and enjoyed tap dancing. She enjoyed the arts and spent many years of craftsmanship in her own right. She produced works of knitted art, enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and quilting, and was a Blue Ribbon Award Winner at the Wayne County Fair for basket weaving. Her later years were spent enjoying craft time with her beloved staff and residents at her senior living home at Lorien in Taneytown, MD.

Louella had a passion for education, and for helping others. In an early career, she taught 2nd grade. She also took enrichment classes in Church History and Biblical Greek. A few years later, as was her greatest calling, Lou went into the HealthCare career field. She worked as a Nurse’s Aide, and an Activities Director at a senior living facility, and eventually attended Nursing School. She graduated from Pennsylvania’s Loch Haven University. Her nursing career culminated in her work as a hospice nurse, a job which she enjoyed immensely until she retired.

Louella is survived by Christina Feliciano of Warren, Ohio; Kathleen Zimmermann and husband Paul of Westminster, MD; Michael Garrou and wife Michelle of Goldsboro, NC; Noelle Weston and husband Kevin of Goldsboro, NC; and Thomas Garrou and wife Deana of Goldsboro, NC; brother, Edward Soldano; twelve grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Louella’s life at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Barry Williamson officiating. Interment will be in Pikeville Cemetery.
