Nancy Jean Lupton Mitchell, 89, passed away at her home on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Born in Wayne County on October 29, 1934, she was the daughter of the late William Daniel and Affa Leona Hodge Lupton.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Billy Mitchell; children, Tommy Mitchell, Steve Mitchell, and Beth Daniels; grandson, Jonathan Mitchell; and son-in-law, Frank Mitchell.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Terri Mitchell and Cheryl Taylor (Junior); grandchildren, Josh Daniels (Teresa), Mitchell Daniels (Brandi), Shelly Willis (Perry), Samantha Jennette (Jason), Amanda Pejera (R.T.), and Ryan Taylor (Amy); and twelve great-grandchildren.
Jean enjoyed volunteering with the soup kitchen and being a caregiver to those in the community. Above all else, Jean loved spending time with her family and friends.
A service to celebrate Jean’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Rose officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday in the hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at her home in Goldsboro. A private interment will be held on Monday at Wayne Memorial Park.
