MOUNT OLIVE — Three Wayne County schools earned wins on Wednesday in the opening round of the 2023 Fellowship of Christian Athletes Winter Classic at Kornegay Arena on the University of Mount Olive campus.
Wayne Christian opened the tournament with a 61-55 win over Southern Wayne. Wayne Prep picked up an 84-67 victory over North Duplin. Wayne Country Day cruised past Rosewood 60-35, and James Kenan slipped past Eastern Wayne 48-46 in the final game of the day.
Rosewood and Eastern Wayne will open play on Thursday in the loser’s bracket at 2 p.m., followed by Southern Wayne and North Duplin at 3:30 p.m.
Wayne Country Day and James Kenan will meet in the first semifinal at 5:30 p.m., followed by Wayne Christian and Wayne Prep at 7 p.m.
Fans who are not able to attend the tournament in person can watch online for free.
