KINSTON — The third annual Greater Neuse Fellowship of Christian Athletes Women’s Winter Classic got underway on Wednesday at Lenoir Community College.
This year the Women’s Winter Classic is using three four-team divisions, with the team with the best record in each division being crowned a division champion.
Defending tournament champion Southern Wayne defeated Rosewood 27-12 in the opening game of the tournament. The Eagles and Saints are in the Red Division.
Also in the Red Division, Eastern Wayne improved to 9-0 with a 53-28 win over Farmville Central. North Duplin fell to Southwest Onslow 43-30. The North Lenoir/Wayne Prep result was unavailable.
Thursday’s games include Rosewood against Greene Central at 10:30 a.m., Southern Wayne against Ayden-Grifton at Noon, Wayne Prep against Havelock at 3:30 p.m., Eastern Wayne battles Southwest Onslow at 5:30 p.m. and North Duplin plays Farmville Central at 7 p.m.
