Buddy Rose, 80, victoriously met his Savior face-to-face on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Barbour Court Nursing and Rehab in Smithfield. He was born in Greene County to the late Jesse Lee Rose and Debbie Shingleton Rose on October 29, 1943. In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Rose Farrell, and brother, Julian Rose.

Buddy was an accomplished welder and many would think he was a master of his trade. Even with his many years of experience, Buddy continued to try to improve his work by going back to school to receive an engineering degree in sheet metal fabrication. As a member of the Eastern Carolina Vintage Farm Equipment Club, Buddy found joy in being around antique tractors and equipment.

A man of strong faith, Buddy worshiped at Spirit of Truth Church in LaGrange. There he served in many areas sharing the love of God. His family finds comfort in knowing that Buddy’s faith carries him to his eternal home.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Buddy’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Mickey Colie officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023, in the Snow Hill Cemetery with Rev. Mitch Ham officiating.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Colie Rose; daughter, Ronda Rose Riggan and husband, Jeff of Roanoke Rapids; son, Greg Rose of LaGrange; grandchildren, Matthew Riggan, Luke Riggan and wife, Angela, Austin Rose and wife, Alison, and Hunter Rose and wife, Shyan; great-grandchildren, Lucas Riggan, Olivia Rose and Axel Rose; sister, Dorothy Ellis of LaGrange; and brother, Jerry Rose of Daytona Beach, FL. He is also survived by a special family friend, Colton Long.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
