Suspect in May Robbery Arrested

On May 15, at approximately 11 a.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a report of a robbery in the 1100 block of Parkway Drive.

Employees of a business stated that a man entered their building and removed the personal property of one of the employees. A female employee was assaulted by the suspect during the incident.

The suspect also pointed a firearm at a subject attempting to stop him. The suspect fled the business in a vehicle toward N. Berkeley Boulevard. The female employee was transported to UNC Health Wayne for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau was contacted and responded to the scene.

As a result of the investigation, warrants were secured for Cleveland Lamont Amerson, 52, of Goldsboro. The warrants were secured on June 8. The apprehension of Amerson was adopted by the U.S. Marshals Service shortly after the warrants were secured.

On Dec. 11, Amerson was arrested by the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office as a result of a traffic stop. Due to a parole revocation, Amerson was transferred to Granville Correctional Institution with a projected release date in September 2024 on the parole revocation. The warrants in this case were served at the time of arrest, and Amerson received no bond on these charges.
