Goldsboro High School Principal Ryan Nelson has been suspended with pay.
Ken Derksen, the Executive Director for Community Engagement and Student and Family Support, for
Wayne County Public Schools, confirmed to Goldsborodailynews.com in an email that Nelson had been suspended with pay on Jan. 4.
Derksen stated, “WCPS can confirm that Mr. Nelson was suspended with pay on Thursday, January 4. North Carolina § 115C-320 limits what information/records can be released about public school personnel. The types of details you are seeking are not among the records that WCPS can release or discuss. Having said this, Goldsboro High School is an important school in the WCPS family, and the district administration will be working with the assistant principal as needed during this time to ensure staff and students have the support and resources to successfully advance the mission of teaching and learning.”
Nelson was named the principal at Goldsboro High School in June of 2019 after serving as principal at Greenwood Middle School. He has also served as an assistant principal at Southern Wayne High School, Eastern Wayne High School, and North Drive Elementary.
