Michael “Mickey” Ray Jackson, 76, passed away at Johnston UNC Healthcare Smithfield on Thursday, January 18, 2024. Born in Wilson on September 20, 1947, Mickey was the son of Mary Watkins Jackson and the late Carl Ray Jackson. Mickey is also preceded in death by many aunts and uncles whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his mother, Mickey is survived by his children, Clarence “Corky” Jackson and wife, Tammy, Lee Jackson, and wife, Janet, and Lori Jackson; grandchildren, Heather Barbour, Kaylee Jackson, Caleb Durham, Ethan Durham, Brandon Hill, and Adam Hill; great-grandchildren, Emily Barbour, and Riley Hill; siblings, Donna E. Jackson, and Steve Jackson and wife, Hope.

For many years, Mickey could be seen all over Eastern North Carolina on construction sites. No matter if it was laying out plans, or being a superintendent on a job site, everyone knew to go to him for his expertise. When not at work, Mickey could be seen with a fishing rod in hand trying to catch a trophy fish. Mickey could also be seen in his spare time enjoying a game of billiards. Mickey was drafted into the United States Army where he courageously served time for his country. Mickey had a keen and deep appreciation for his country and its veterans.

A graveside service to celebrate Mickey’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Jackson Cemetery in Kenly with Pastor Andy Stovall presiding. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
