Timmie Charles Phelps

Timmie Charles Phelps

January 18, 2024, 71, La Grange —

December 28, 1952 – January 18, 2024

Timmie Charles Phelps victoriously passed through Heaven’s gates in the late hours of January 18, 2024. Though cancer waged war on his body, Timmie’s faith was unwavering and his hope for eternity, steadfast. While his absence leaves a void in the hearts of many, peace and comfort can be found in knowing that Timmie is with His Savior.

Born in Greene County to Evelyn Carter Phelps and the late Arthur Etheridge Phelps on December 28, 1952, Timmie was the oldest of four children. As many first-borns tend to be, Timmie was always in charge. Even into adulthood, Timmie was a problem-solver and quick to put a self-devised plan into action. He considered it his responsibility to care for his mother and look out for his brother and sisters. Timmie’s daughter brought joy to his life and he seized every opportunity to brag on her. His son, Jason, will proudly carry on his name and legacy, as one mirrored the other in so many ways.

With a work ethic second to none, Timmie was never one to be idle. He had a passion for travel, which made trucking the ideal occupation. Unlike most, however, Timmie was always dressed to the nines. Jeans were pressed, loafers were shined, and hair was never out of place, whether in the truck or about town. Timmie was suave and debonair.

Having a heart of gold and being generous to a fault, Timmie made friends easily and felt he never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with anyone from every walk of life. He was quite the “foody” and enjoyed cooking as much as eating. Many meals were cooked and shared around the table with friends and family.

Timmie loved his church family and was a devoted member of La Grange Church of God. From landscaping to holding positions as an usher, finance committee member, and church security member, Timmie exemplified a commitment to the Lord and his church through various acts of service.

A service of remembrance will be held at La Grange Church of God on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at 4 p.m. The family will greet friends in the hour before the service in the sanctuary.

In addition to his mother, Timmie is survived by his daughter, Lindsey Snyder (Brad); son, Jason Phelps; sisters, Juanita Phelps and Rebecca Scott (Alan); sweetheart and significant other, Sherry Crocker; and his beloved grand-dog, Stella. In addition to his father, Timmie was preceded in death by his brother, Martin Phelps.
