Edward Darrell Flowers, at the age of 77, passed away just minutes past the midnight hour on Saturday morning, January 20, 2024, at the Wake Med Cary Hospital. He was a resident of Cary.
Darrell, a native of Faison, was a member of the 1964 graduating class of North Duplin High School. Following a stint in the United States Navy, he became a computer programmer, evolving into an IT applications developer with a lengthy tenure of service with Truist Bank.
He leaves behind his wife, Norma “Bella” Pizarro Flowers, of the home in Cary; a daughter, Michelle Flowers Vuncannon with husband, Christopher Vuncannon, of Lillington; a son, Matthew Edward Flowers with wife, Kasey Pleasant Flowers, of Fuquay-Varina; a step-son, Carlos Torres of Durham; four grandchildren, Virginia Brooke Vuncannon, Sydney Shane Flowers, Julie Elise Flowers, and Blake Clifton Vuncannon; a sister, Vicky Flowers Roberts with husband, Murray Roberts, of Mount Olive; two nephews, Richard Roberts with wife, Crystal, and their daughter, Sloane, all of Clayton, and Adam Roberts of Mount Olive; and his first wife and the mother of their children, Leslie Flowers of Fuquay-Varina.
Darrell joins in death, his second wife, Violeta Pellon; and his parents, Willie Edward Flowers and Helen Williams Flowers.
Visitation will be on Saturday, January 27, at Tyndall Funeral Home, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Bobby Rackley. Burial will follow in Faison Cemetery in Faison.
