Rachel Ann Martin, 88, of Pikeville received her ultimate healing Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Goldsboro Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. in the church fellowship hall at Pleasant Hill FWB Church in Pikeville followed by a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Martin was born in Lincoln County on May 19, 1935, to the late John Wesley and Lillie Baker Bean. She was the oldest living member of Pleasant Hill FWB Church in Pikeville where she served in many capacities including the ladies auxiliary, church nursery, and past choir director. She was a member of the Friendly Heirs Gospel Group where she loved to sing and also play the guitar for her Lord and Savior. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy will live on in the lives of those she touched through music.
She is survived by her husband, Dale Leroy Martin; one son, Billy Carter, and wife, Anita; two daughters, Rena Thompson and Donna Davis and husband, Ricky; one step-daughter, Deborah A. Martin; two sisters, Evelyn Propst and husband, Larry and Betty Caldwell and husband, Larry; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Rachel Renelle Edmundson; three brothers and eight sisters.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
