February 21, 2024, 59, Seven Springs —
Michael Lee Alphin, 59, of the Seven Springs area, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, February 21, 2024.
Michael was an outdoorsman and had been employed in construction, building, and repairs, for most of his life.
He leaves behind his wife, Marilyn Gentry Alphin; his mother, Faye Jones Alphin, of Seven Springs; five children, Jamie Gentry and wife, Shanetta, of Goldsboro, Lisa Gentry of Raleigh, Eric Alphin and wife, Jennifer, of Goldsboro, Adam Alphin and wife, Brittany, of Seven Springs, and Stephanie A. Smarsh and husband, Spencer Herring, of Goldsboro; 21 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy Cullen Alphin, Jr. and Cindy Alphin, of Seven Springs; a brother-in-law, Gene Gentry and wife, Jacqueline, of Minnesota; an uncle, Thomas Jones, of Pink Hill; two great-aunts, Irene Whaley Miller of Jefferson, and Dorothy Whaley Gaskins of Kinston; and several cousins and their families.
Michael now joins in death, his father, Jimmy Cullen Alphin, Sr.; an infant sister, Lori Ann Alphin; his grandparents, L. T. and Barbara Whaley Jones, and Millard Alphin and Nettie Mae Casey Alphin Eason; and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be on Sunday, February 25, at 7 p.m. a Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, and will be led by the Rev. Sam Jones. A time of visitation with the family will follow the service. At other times, family and friends may call at the home of Michael’s mother.
Committal and burial will be on Monday, February 26, at 11 a.m. in the Pineview Cemetery, Seven Springs.
