Roy Daniel Turnage, 87, of Goldsboro passed away Tuesday night at The Landings of Smithfield surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Walter Herman Turnage and Mary Estelle Jones Turnage and was married to the late Frances “Jean” Harris Turnage. Mr. Roy was a member of Black Jack Grove Free Will Baptist Church for over 65 years and served as a deacon and choir member. In his spare time, Roy enjoyed building furniture, growing and selling collards, and trips to go fishing.

A service to celebrate his life will be held Sunday, February 25, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Black Jack Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Franklin Lane officiating. Committal services will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of his son, Randy Turnage.

Mr. Turnage is survived by his sons, Michael Turnage and wife, Darlene of The Villages, FL and Randy Turnage and wife, Shannon of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Heather Richard and husband, Nick, Holly Holmes and husband, Jason, Mary Turnage, Jesse Turnage, Kayla Holmes and husband, Michael, Thomas Turnage, and Trace Turnage; and great-grandchildren, Lilly Holmes, Evan Holmes, Taylor Holmes, Naomi Richard, Liam Richard, Logan Richard, Wyatt Holmes, Tristan Holmes, Ellie Shaw, and one on the way.

In addition to his wife, sister, Emma Potter, and brothers, Millard Turnage, Warren Turnage, and Roger Turnage all preceded him in death.
