Julie Carr Talton Bridgers died Sunday, February 25, 2024. She was born In Goldsboro on August 18, 1943, the daughter of Paul Bryant Talton and Eula Purnell Talton, and was married to the late Walter Thomas “Tombo” Bridgers.
Julie graduated from Goldsboro High School and attended Campbell College. She was a lifelong member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church. For several years, she worked at the American Red Cross, where she tirelessly worked to help others.
Julie is survived by her grandson, David Thomas Odom; niece, Sherry Bush Stafford (DeNeal), sisters-in-law, Nancy Bridgers Norwood, Barbara Bridgers Garey (George), and Lillian Overman Bridgers, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Julie was preceded in death by her daughters, Mary Scott Bridgers and Molly Carr Bridgers; sister, Linda Talton Newell; sister-in-law, Catherine Bridgers Moore, and brothers-in-law, Brutus Stalling Bridgers, Dover Gladstone Moore, and Charles Stephens Norwood; niece, Anne Garey Prosperi and great nephew, Bryant Edward Stafford.
A service by the graveside will be held Thursday, February 29, at 11:00 a.m. at Willow Dale Cemetery, 306 East Elm Street, Goldsboro with Pastor Andy Stovall, officiating. Her family will receive friends immediately following the service.
