Three local high school basketball teams are still alive in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state playoffs.
North Duplin and Goldsboro have advanced to the third round of the 1-A and 2-A playoffs respectively, while Charles B. Aycock won its first two games in the 3-A girls playoffs.
The ninth-seeded Rebels (17-9) defeated East Blaen 76-63 on Friday night for their 13th consecutive victory. North Duplin visits top-seeded and defending state champion Wilson Prep (23-5) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Second-seeded Goldsboro slipped past Washington 80-76 on Friday night. The Cougars (25-3) have won six straight games since losing at North Johnston on Feb. 9.
Goldsboro hosts seventh-seeded Hertford County (21-8) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
After starting the season 0-5, and enduring another three-game losing streak in mid Janurary, Aycock (17-12) knocked off Triton 46-44 in overtime on Friday night. The 23rd-seeded Golden Falcons have won 13 of their last 14 games, and will visit second-seeded Cape Fear (26-1) at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Colts have won 17 consecutive games and have not lost since Jan. 15.
