Bessie Lou Rich Tyndall

Bessie Lou Rich Tyndall

March 2, 2024, 80, Goldsboro —

Bessie Lou Rich Tyndall, 80, finished her course on this earth on Saturday, March 2, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born in Wayne County to the late Garland and Ella Vail Rich on June 4, 1943. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Tyndall.

After studying to become a registered nurse, Bessie started her career at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. When she became a mother, she left the nursing profession to dedicate her time to the care and well-being of her sons. Working alongside her husband on the family farm and raising her sons in a Christian home, Bessie was the ultimate example of a devoted wife and mother. True to her roots and her family, she was a member of the Tractor Pull Association. She and J.D. raised their children in Pleasant Grove O.F.W.B. Church where they faithfully worshiped and served their Lord for many years.

After her sons were up in age, Bessie returned to nursing, working at O’Berry Center. A short time later, she found her true calling in nursing, working at Home Health and Hospice. Working for over 25 years with 3HC, Bessie was a great comfort to many families. Possessing a servant’s heart, many saw Bessie as an angel on earth, for she treated all her patients as if they were her own family.

As she exemplified in her day-to-day life, family was of utmost importance to Bessie. Grateful for all the blessings bestowed upon her, she counted her family at the top of the list, especially her grandchildren.

A glance over Bessie’s yard would make you instantly recognize her love for flowers and yard work. Always keeping things in immaculate condition, she found much joy and contentment when caring for her flowers.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home. A service to celebrate Bessie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Pleasant Grove O.F.W.B. Church with Pastor Barry Stallings and Pastor Stanley Kirby officiating. Interment will be in the Pikeville Cemetery.

Bessie is survived by her sons, James Delano “Jim” Tyndall, II and wife, Tammy of Stantonsburg and John Lee Tyndall and wife, Velvet of Pikeville; grandchildren, Katie Jo Tyndall, Jamie Delano Tyndall, John Ethen Tyndall and Delila Anne Tyndall; and her beloved k-9 friend, Lucy Belle.
