Lonnie Dewey Woodard, 74, peacefully passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Born in Johnston County on July 14, 1949, he was the son of the late
Lonnie Woodard and Hazel Holloman Woodard.
Dewey owned and operated Woodard’s Landscaping for 25 years. Dewey could often be found spending time outdoors in his garden, fishing, or hunting. He was a charter member of the Neuse Bend Hunting Club where he spent many hours enjoying nature and a love for the outdoors. Dewey served in the National Guard for six and a half years. Above all, spending time with his family meant the world to him. Dewey loved his family and longed for heaven.
Dewey is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Darlene Linton Woodard, daughter, Lindsay Miller (Matt); sons, Rodney Woodard (Robin) and Darren Woodard; grandchildren, Tyler (Michelle) and Kayla Woodard, Chase and Ava Moen; great-grandchildren, Luna Lofland and Lisette Woodard; six step-grandchildren, Ethan and Ayden Hall, Luke, Lilly, Levi and Lexie Miller; his brother, Rogers Woodard (Debbie); his sister, Patsy Miller (John); special great-nieces, Mia and Kyla Mumford; and close family, Todd Moen and Carrie Woodard.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro. A service to remember Dewey’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Irvin Ambrose officiating. Interment will follow at the Woodard Family Cemetery in Princeton.
