For the second consecutive season, Goldsboro will face Farmville Central in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 2-A boys basketball state semifinals.
The second-seeded Cougars (27-3) defeated Fairmont 63-56 on Friday night to advance to face the top-seeded Jaguars (29-1) on Wednesday at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem. A time for Wednesday’s state semifinals has yet to be announced.
Goldsboro has won eight of its last nine games. Since the start of the 2021-22 season, the Cougars are 75-11.
Famrville Central’s lone loss this season came against Reidsville on Dec. 28. The Jaguars defeated Reidsville in last season’s 2-A state championship game.
Farmville Central defeated Goldsboro 76-67 in last season’s state semifinals.
