March 15, 2024, 77, Goldsboro —
Diane Mozingo Thompson, 77, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, while being cared for at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Diane was born in Wayne County to the late John Carter Mozingo and Dixie Worrell Mozingo on April 6, 1946. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Lee Thompson, Jr., and granddaughter, Madison Mozingo.
Diane has been employed for many years in housekeeping at Wayne Community College. She was a hard-working lady, which was the theme of her life. Diane’s life was a testament to selflessness and dedication, evident in her unwavering love for her family and commitment to her son and grandchildren.
Diane was an animal lover and was known to spoil all of the family pets she would take care of when the family was out of town. Her heart was huge. Around the home, Diane spent her time canning and freezing vegetables or cooking. Everything that came from her kitchen was excellent, and gathering her family around the table was one of her greatest delights. The opportunity to listen to some good old country music was always a highlight of her day.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 17, 2024, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Diane’s life at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Andy Stovall officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange.
Diane is survived by her son, Danny Mozingo, and wife, Angela of LaGrange; grandson, Zack Mozingo and wife, Mikayla; granddaughter, Megan Mozingo; sisters, Dollie Moore and Debbie Grady; brother, Roger Barwick; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.
Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
