Goldsboro Fire Department units were dispatched to a confirmed structure fire at 1010 A/B Devereux St., at 9:18 a.m. Engine 4 arrived on the scene of a vacant residential structure to find smoke and flames showing from the front and rear of the structure.
Approximately 80 percent of the structure received some type of damage related to the fire. Multiple units responded, including Engine 4, Engine 1, Engine 2, Tower 1, Battalion 1, Car 4, Car 5, Car 9, and Engine 3.
With units that responded there were a total of 21 personnel on the scene. Crews were able to make entry, extinguish the fire, and search for any possible occupants but none were found.
There were no injuries to any crew members during this response. The fire was confirmed under control at 9:45 a.m., and all units were clear on the call at 11:23 a.m.
At the present time there are no issues that will affect the public. The origin and cause of the fire are still under investigation with the Goldsboro Police Department now having the lead role in investigating.
