March 22, 2024, 86, Dudley —
Betsy Mae Lane Bartlett, 86, of Dudley, passed away at Goldsboro Rehab on Friday. She was the daughter of the late Ronnie John and Lillie Mae Lane and was the wife of the late Peter Akmens and William Alford Bartlett. At an early age, she was taught to sing gospel music with her father in a Nigerian church. Betsy and her sister, Chris Lozier wrote and recorded two records. Betsy was very talented. Today she sings harmony in her Fathers’s heavenly choir alongside her dad, who thought she was the smartest little girl in the whole world. She could do and be whatever she wanted. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and was an Emergency Medical Technician.
To all her family, she wants you to know that she loved each and every one of you. At this time, she’s leaving this world, that is so full of heartache and troubles. So, she’s telling you herself, when you read this final eulogy, you will know she has gone beyond fear, the shine is back in her eyes. In this life, she could not convey how she really felt. Her hurt was too deep. So, smile amongst all your tears and be happy, because she has finally found peace. God’s angels have carried her home. To you, my friends and family I have always loved you all, and that means you too my very special sister and best friend, Marie McDonald.
A service to celebrate Betsy’s life will be held Monday at 7:00 P.M. in the Park East Church of God. The family will receive friends following the service. Committal services will be held Tuesday at Pineview Cemetery at 11:00 A.M.
