Large Crowd Turns Out For 38th Pickle Festival

MOUNT OLIVE — Thousands of people filled downtown Mount Olive for the 38th North Carolina Pickle Festival on Saturday. 

The Pickle Festival got started on Friday night with carnival rides, an outdoor concert featuring Steel County Express, and the Cuke Patch 5-K Glow Run. 

Saturday featured live music on four stages throughout the day, the highly anticipated pickle-eating contest, and a pickle costume contest. There was also a stage featuring dancing, and the Wayne County Cruisers held a car show. 

Vendors and food trucks lined the streets of Mount Olive and there were also helicopter rides taking off from in front of the Pope Wellness Center on the University of Mount Olive campus, carnival rides, and roaming entertainers
