Additional charges have been filed from an incident on April 27 that left a 26-year-old Goldsboro man dead, and a 20-year-old Goldsboro man charged with first-degree murder.
On April 27 at approximately 9:10, officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert at Kim’s Beauty Supply, at 718 E. Ash St.
Upon the officers’ arrival, they located Kristopher Marquise Faison, 26, Goldsboro, in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency Medical personnel responded and transported Faison to UNC Health Wayne where he was pronounced deceased.
The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau and Crime Scene Unit were contacted and responded to the scene.
During the course of this investigation, a suspect was developed, and a warrant for first-degree murder was secured by investigators.
The suspect, identified as Hakeem Khalib Coley, 20, Goldsboro, was taken into custody in the 800 block of Olivia Lane without incident at approximately 7:19 p.m. on Saturday by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office ACE Team. Coley was also charged with possession of a stolen firearm.
The warrant was served on Coley at the Wayne County Magistrate’s Office, and he was left in the custody of the Wayne County Detention Center under no bond pending a first appearance on Apr. 29.
As a result of the continued investigation into this incident, an additional victim has been identified, and Coley has been charged accordingly.
The additional victim, Julian Earl Edwards, 55, of Goldsboro, was not injured during the incident. Coley was charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder in addition to the charges listed in the previous update.
On Wednesday, Coley was served with a warrant for the new charge while still in the custody of the Wayne County Jail. Coley received no bond for the new charge and had a first appearance scheduled for Thursday.
