Mickey Dean Vernon, 81, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro. Born on January 26, 1943, in Surry County, he was the son of the late Brady Harrison Vernon and Virginia Gunnell Vernon.

Mickey is survived by his wife, Maria Rhodora Vernon; his son, Micheal Vernon, and wife, Stephanie; granddaughter, Mikayla Vernon; and three step-children, Dorelyn Hart, Affa Rasheed, and Jowhar Rasheed.

In addition to his parents, Mickey was preceded in death by his wife, Antonie Schafer Vernon, and his brothers, Paul and Bobby Vernon.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro. A service to honor Mickey will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Andy Stovall officiating. Interment will conclude at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
