Philip Anthony Dixon, 73, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Born in New York on March 27, 1951, he was the son of the late Doyle Dixon and Clara LaForge Dixon.
In addition to his parents, Philip is preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Dixon, Marjorie Dixon, Rita Dixon, Mary Jo Dixon, and Penny Dixon.
Philip is survived by his loving wife, Yong Un Chin Dixon; daughters, Elizabeth Speck and husband, Damean, and Ann Dixon and husband, Joshua Farrar; and grandchildren, Colin Speck, Claire Speck, Penelope Farrar, and another grandson on the way.
For twenty-two years, Philip served his country in the United States Air Force. He had a keen and deep appreciation for the opportunities that his time in the Air Force provided for him and his family. After his retirement, Philip could still be seen on base often playing racquetball and bowling. He loved being outside doing yard work, always making sure everything looked nice.
Faith and family were paramount in Philip’s life. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Philip’s love for his family knew no bounds and each moment spent together with his family is a memory he would cherish forever. He loved being with all of his family, but especially his grandchildren. Philip will be remembered as a loving, husband, father, and grandfather.
A memorial prayer service will be held to honor Philip on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Inurnment with full military honors will be held at 12 p.m. at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
