Dennis Wayne Kornegay, 78, a lifelong resident of the Beautancus community near Mount Olive, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
He had been employed with the N. C. Department of Transportation as an equipment operator with its road maintenance division.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Elaine Stroud Kornegay, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina K. and Bruce Andrews of Mount Olive; a granddaughter, MacKenzie Andrews of Mount Olive; two step-granddaughters, Dee Mozingo and husband, Stevie, of Clayton and Lynn Sellers and husband, the Rev. Marty Sellers of Whiteville, and their families; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Franklin Kornegay and Virginia Mc Arthur Kornegay; two sisters, Geraldine K. Harvell, and Jane K. Mandeville; and three brothers, Isaac “Bubba” Kornegay, Charlie Mac Kornegay, and Scott Kornegay.
The Kornegay family will gather for visitation on Saturday, June 1, at Tyndall Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Maplewood in Mount Olive. The family will also receive friends at the residence.
The family is most grateful to their kind friends and neighbors, and especially the fine staff of Pruitt Home Health Care for their untiring support and care.
