Mrs. Ellen Marie Pate Davis, at the age of 82, passed away Friday, May 24, 2024, at Wayne UNC Healthcare in Goldsboro.  She was a long-time resident of the Dudley area.

While a consummate homemaker, Mrs. Davis had also worked as a nursing assistant, and in several deli-bakeries and eating establishments where she utilized her amazing cooking skills. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard J. Davis; two sons, Howard Craig Davis and Ricky Julian Davis; her parents, John William Pate and Annie Lillian Anderson Pate; two sisters, Zelma Pate Wilson and Myrtle Pate Gautier; and two brothers, Leslie Pate and William Jason Pate.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her two sons, Gerry Davis and Leonard Davis, both from the Dudley area; a sister, the Rev. Mary Pate Rogers of Faison; and several nieces and nephews.

Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 29, at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, beginning at 1 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m.  Officiating will be the Rev. James Earl Herring.  Burial will follow in the Pate Cemetery.
