Eva Jean Reaves Hill

Eva Jean Reaves Hill

May 28, 2024, 76, Goldsboro —

Eva Jean Reaves Hill joined her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd & Thelma Reaves. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Tom and Dennis Reaves, brother-in-law, Tom Hill, and sister-in-law, Shirley Whitted.

Eva was the second oldest of seven children. They all grew up in a white cinder block house where Eva was in charge of the younger children – Connie and Dennis. In high school, she met the love of her life, Delano Hill. They were married on August 21, 1965, before Eva started her senior year of high school.

During their marriage, they had two loving children, Tony and Laura. Delano and Eva traveled across the world, meeting all kinds of people. Eva loved to see the world by Delano’s side.

At home, Eva was actively involved in the Southern Wayne County Business and Professional Women, United Methodist Women, and Wayne County Mental Health Association. During the early to mid-2000s, Eva spent many hours at the Mount Olive Area Churches In Action (ACIA) Thrift Shop. She assisted families in need and enjoyed helping others.

Eva loved to spend time with her family including all of her brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, children, and grandchildren. Having Savannah and Grayson at her house was always fun. She was called “Grandma No” because she never told them no. Grandma’s house was the place of endless Oreos and orange sherbet.

Eva will be missed for her loving, caring, and gentle spirit. She was a true caretaker her entire life loving Delano and then raising two kids. She loved to help others which she acted upon in her activities in the community.

Eva will be remembered by her husband of 58 years, Delano Hill; her children, Tony Hill (Kim Holmes) and Laura (Reggie) Strickland; and her grandchildren, Savannah and Grayson Strickland, all of whom are located in Mount Olive. She is also cherished by her siblings, Wesley (Carol) Reaves, Jim Herring, Rick (Rene) Reaves, and Connie (Stanley) Outlaw; three sisters-in-law Meg Reaves, Jill Reaves, and Anita Hill; along with many nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held. Family will be receiving friends at the home on Thursday, May 30th from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
