On Thursday, members of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office DWI Task Force assisted on a Welfare Check.

David Ray Person 43, Goldsboro, was located behind the wheel of his vehicle noticeably impaired.

Gross impairment was observed during field sobriety tests and Person was subsequently arrested for DWI. After Person’s arrest, controlled substances were located on his person, and drug paraphernalia was located inside of his vehicle.

Person was charged with felony possession of heroin, simple possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, driving while impaired, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail under an $8,000 secured bond.
