Jerry Rick Allsbrook, Sr. responded to the call of his Lord to come home on  Wednesday, May 29, 2024, while he was being cared for at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Jerry was born in Martin County on April 24, 1932, to the late John Henry Allsbrook and Annie Clyde Gurganus Allsbrook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Morse Allsbrook; and brothers, Johnny Frank Allsbrook and Billy Saunders Allsbrook.

Beginning his career with the Goldsboro Fire Department, he quickly showed his dedication to the department and his skill as a leader. He was selected to lead the department as Assistant Fire Chief and retired with 40 years of service to the City of Goldsboro.

Jerry’s service went beyond his role in the community, as he faithfully served with the North Carolina Fireman’s Association and the North Carolina Retired Fireman’s Association. As a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, he worshiped with this congregation for many years.

Jerry’s life was dedicated to service to others, devotion to God, and love and protection for his family.

A service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary of St. Luke United Methodist Church with Pastor Karl Grant and Bishop Anthony Slater officiating. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park with fireman honors.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.

Jerry is survived by his sister, Vickie Keene; daughter, Bonnie Allsbrook Narron and husband, John Mark Narron of Bonaire, GA; son, Jerry R. Allsbrook, Jr. and wife, Marisa of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Susan Narron Cook (Tommy) of Bonaire, GA, Sara Narron Gordon (Milton) of Kathleen, GA and Joshua Rick Allsbrook (Mashwelle) of Fontana, CA; and great-grandchildren, Ashton Carter Eades, Madison Allsbrook, McKenzie Allsbrook, Chad Gordon, Hannah Gordon, and Ansleigh Gordon; and an honorary son, Hubert Harris.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1608 E. Pine Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or to the Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church, c/o Sandra Grady, 5781 Wayne Memorial Drive, Pikeville, NC 27863.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
