Laura was born and raised in Goldsboro, North Carolina. She graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1971. Laura moved to Hartsville, SC in 1978 with her husband and their growing family.
For the next 32 years Laura raised her children while working in numerous different environments building a life for herself, and building lifelong friendships with people who adored her and supported her through this most precious time. She was a fixture in the school halls, church halls, and all the ball fields. Laura was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church of Hartsville, SC.
Aside from her children, Laura’s biggest accomplishment would be her College Graduation from Coker College. Laura graduated in the fall of 2003 with a Degree in Sociology. Her goal was to be licensed by the state of South Carolina and practice as licensed drug and alcohol counselor. Shortly after graduation her hard work paid off when she received an offer of employment from a state funded program by the name of RUBICON.
In 2013 Laura began her battle against Alzheimer’s disease. She moved to Titusville, Florida and was lovingly cared for by her sister Linda, brother-in-law Ken and their children over the next 13 years. Linda and Ken shined a beacon of love and familiarity to Laura in a world where past and present blurred. They became her constant star, guiding her with love, patience, and unwavering compassion until her final days.
Laura loved her family more than anything else. She traveled anytime she could visit her family in Goldsboro, NC for long weekends, holidays, and vacations. Her family was life. She was a favorite sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many. She never met a stranger, and she was always the most beautiful person in the room, inside and out.
