Lena Mae Anders Venable, 92, of Dudley, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday evening, June 10, 2024, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro with Pastor Bill Cotton officiating.  Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9 until 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Venable was born in Sampson County on April 2, 1932, to the late Carl and Addie McCullen Strickland.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her husband, Joseph E. Venable; sons, John Paul Anders Jr. and wife, Teri of Pikeville, Steve Anders and wife, JoAnn of Goldsboro, Charles Venable and wife, Cindy of Winston Salem and Curtis Venable of Grantham; daughters, Matilda Bedford and husband, Gerald of Nahunta, Jeanne Hodgin, and husband, George Jr. of Goldsboro, Carrie Woodard of Princeton and Loretta Farag of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Raven Strickland of Mt. Olive; two sisters, Myrtle Thompson of Mt. Olive and Barbara Ann Fognini and husband, Tom of Goldsboro; sister-in-law, Faye Strickland of Mt. Olive; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John Paul Anders Sr.; brothers, Bobby Strickland, Carrol Strickland, Edward Strickland, and Eldon Strickland and her grandchildren, Dana Bedford Champion and Alison Bedford Gipson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Ct, Goldsboro, NC 27534 or to 3HC Home Health & Hospice, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534 where the family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care provided.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
