Charles Henry Gardner, Sr., age 81, passed on to his heavenly home on Monday evening, June 10, 2024, at Wayne/UNC Healthcare in Goldsboro. Born in Wayne County, NC, he was the son of the late William Henry Gardner and Edith Mae Bowen Gardner. He was the husband of Glynda “Terri” Jennette Gardner, celebrating 63 years together. He proudly served his country with the National Guard and had a career with R.N. Rouse and Company, supervising commercial construction. A member of Mt. Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church, he was the owner and operator of Gardner Auto Sales.

A service to celebrate his life will be held Monday, June 17, 2024, at 2:00 pm, at Mt. Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Jeff Dail officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024, from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm at the church.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Michael Glenn Gardner, Sr. (Carole) of Goldsboro, NC, Tracy Gardner Purvis of Henrico, NC, Charles “Chuck” Henry Gardner, Jr. (Angie) of Mount Olive, NC and Amy Gardner Leonard (Kevin) of LaGrange, NC; his brother, Ronnie Gardner (Bonnie) of Goldsboro, NC; his grandchildren, Michael Glenn Gardner (Keisha) of Columbia, SC, William Blake Gardner of Goldsboro, NC, Haley Gardner Wiggins (Brady) of Hampstead, NC, William Chase Gardner of Seven Springs, NC, Sydney Purvis Leger (Hunter) of Valdosta, GA, Clinton Andrew Leonard (Kymberly) of LaGrange, NC, and Emily Leonard-Burwell (Matthew) of Boston, MA; his great grandchildren, Makayla and Amaya Gardner, Everett, Peyton and Nolan Leger, Emerson and Rowan Wiggins and Natalie Leonard; his uncle, Chester Bowen (Norma) of Pilot Mountain, NC; his nieces and nephews, Donna Gardner Kemp (David), Landon Gardner Case (Kyleigh), Ira Dane Case, Shannon Fralick (Jason), Brandy Kay (Keven), Tamara Warrick Jones (Jimmy), Olivia and Ava Jones, Billy (Jay) Ray Jennette, Jr. (Sonya), Jayson and Joshua Jennette, Richard Alan Jennette (Sarah), Syrus Jennette, Timmy and John Bates, Stephanie and Robbie Potts, Rebecca Jennette Bartik (Scott); and several cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Celebrate Recovery c/o Mt. Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church, 130 Edmundson Road, Mt. Olive, NC 28365.
