Wayne Christian School notified parents of current students in an email on Monday morning that Assistant Head of School Luis Miranda has been promoted to Head of School.
Miranda replaces former Head of School Paul Brenner, who left Wayne Christian at the conclusion of the school year to become the Head of School at Sioux Center Christian School in Sioux Center, IA.
Miranda began his tenure at Wayne Christian as an Elementary Principal in 2017. He has also served as a School Principal, and he began his role as Assistant Head of School in Aug. of 2022.
Brenner was Wayne Christian’s Head of School from July 2018 to July 2024.
Wayne Christian’s email on Monday morning read, “Over the last six months, the Board’s Head of School (HOS) Search Committee, which is comprised of parents, doctors, and pastors, has undergone a detailed and thorough search. The process began with the creation of a profile of the necessary skills and background needed for our school at this time, followed by collaborative discussions with teachers, parents and staff.
We elicited their thoughts on the strengths and current needs of our school. This process included consultation with experts and detailed analysis of leading candidates. After thorough vetting, the Board has completed the HOS search process.
We decided that our current Assistant Head of School Luis Miranda, was by far the best candidate for the position. Given our position of having such a strong and experienced candidate on our staff, we will be able to make positive changes at a quicker pace since external candidates would need some time to get acclimated.
Mr. Miranda knows the ministry of WCS extremely well and has very strong relationships within the WCS community. The Board believes that Luis Miranda has displayed strong leadership and a humble trust in Christ as we have progressed through the years and especially during the difficulties of the last few months.”
On three occasions since May 20, Wayne Christian has emailed parents to address an ongoing investigation involving a former staff member, who worked at the school as recently as this past year.
The most recent email which was sent on June 21, was written by Miranda and it stressed the school’s commitment to the safety of its students, faculty, and families.
The email also reiterated that the investigation had been turned over to the Goldsboro Police Department and that Wayne Christian would be bringing in a third party to conduct a comprehensive review of the school’s internal processes.
