NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY

Draft Environmental Assessment for the Munitions Support Area Improvements, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina

A Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) have been prepared by the Department of the Air Force (DAF) to analyze the potential environmental impacts from installation development proposed to be implemented in the Munitions Support Area (MSA) of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base (SJAFB) over the next five fiscal years.

The EA analyzes a Proposed Action that would implement seven repair and construction projects in the MSA at SJAFB. Most facilities in the SJAFB MSA were built in the 1950s and 1960s and have had minimal repair and sustainment in recent years. The EA considers all seven proposed projects as components of the overall Proposed Action and evaluates the seven projects and their alternatives collectively. The DAF could choose to implement all, none, or any combination of these seven projects.

Printed copies of the Draft EA and Proposed FONSI are available for review at the following locations:

· SJAFB Library, 1520 Goodson Street, Building 3660, SJAFB, NC 27531

· Wayne County Public Library, 1001 E. Ash Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530

· Pikeville Public Library, 106 W. Main Street, Pikeville, NC 27863

An electronic copy of the Draft EA and Proposed FONSI is available at: https://www.seymourjohnson.af.mil/Home/SJAFB-Environmental-Management.

Although comments can be submitted to the DAF at any time during the EA process, comments are requested by 20 August 2024 to ensure full consideration in the process.
