Every week, Your Seymour Salute highlights an airman serving at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro.
A1C Justis Yelvington. He is a key 4th Equipment Maintenance Squadron member as a Nondestructive Inspection Journeyman.
Since his arrival in March 2022, he has completed more than 3,000 airframe inspections and identified 91 structural defects for repair, ensuring the airworthiness of the aircraft.
Yelvington demonstrated exceptional problem-solving during Exercise AGILE LION when an oil sampling deficiency was identified. He established communication with Cherry Point’s Material Engineering Division and secured the use of their oil analysis lab to test on-site, eliminating an hour-and-a-half drive for exercise participants and expediting aircraft return to service.
Yelvington’s swift action ensured event success in preparing the 335th Fighter Generation Squadron for an upcoming deployment and created a lasting partnership with Cherry Point.
