CHERRYVILLE — Wayne County Post 11 got its offense going early en route to a 12-2 win over High Point Post 87 on Saturday on the first day of the North Carolina American Legion state tournament.
Post 11 (32-9) got on the scoreboard in the first inning and finished with 12 hits. John Nelson McLamb, Lawson Tyndall, and Wyatt Lassiter each had multi-hit games. Baines Raynor added a home run for Wayne County.
Post 11 continues play in the double-elimination state tournament at 4 p.m. on Sunday against Union County Post 535.
