Christopher George Ezzell

Christopher George Ezzell

July 18, 2024, 46, Goldsboro —

Christopher George Ezzell, 46, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 18, 2024.

With a work ethic second to none, Chris was never one to be idle. You could always find him at work so he could take care of his family. Chris was a valued operator with Carolina Power & Signalization in Fayetteville.

With a love of nature and the outdoors, Chris found peace and comfort whenever he was on the water or in the woods. Nothing made him happier than being on the water in a boat because fishing was in his blood.

Chris had a knack for tearing things apart and putting them back together. He was a master of the grill and could cook barbecued chicken, smoked ribs, and hamburgers second to none. His family always looked forward to Chris’s cooking because they knew exactly what was in store. He always loved to try and cook new things.

Always involved with his family, Chris made sure to attend every game possible when his children were playing. The weekends were reserved for time with his family, as they enjoyed listening to music and dancing when they were home.

The most important thing in Chris’ life was his family. He held the keys to his pop’s heart and was his best bud. Kelly was the wife God created specifically for Chris, and the two built a marriage of love and friendship. No love came close to what he felt for his children. In his eyes, they held the sun, the moon, and the stars. Despite time or distance, Earl Wayne Wooten will always be remembered as Ba’s best “Root”.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Chris at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Jeff Toler officiating.

Chris is survived by his wife of 18 years, Kelly Starr Ezzell; daughter, Kristin Leigh Wooten and husband, Jackson Earl Wooten; son, Christopher Cohen Ezzell; daughter, Haylee Starr Ezzell; and grandson, Earl Wayne “Root” Wooten. He is also survived by the mother of his daughter Kristin, Katrina Kornegay, whom Chris always kidded about being his other baby momma. Also surviving is his aunt, Connie Ezzell Vinson of Goldsboro; uncle, Shelton Ezzell and wife, Phyllis; mother-in-law, Tammy Talton, and husband, Rusty; father-in-law, Terry Langston, Sr.; sister-in-law, Rusti Rayburn and husband, Patrick; brother-in-law, Terry Langston, Jr. and wife, Bayleigh; nieces, Halle Rayburn, Leah Rayburn, and Karah Rayburn; several cousins he loved very much, and Diana Beason who was very special to Chris.

He was preceded in death by his father, George “Pops” Ezzell; grandmother and grandfather, Alice and D.J. Ezzell; uncle, Danny Ezzell; and cousin, Jeffrey Branch.

Memorial donations may be given in Chris’ memory to an education fund that will be established for his children and may be directed to Kelly Ezzell.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
