Lassiter, 67, of Fremont, NC. Mr. Lassiter transitioned on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at his residence, in Fremont, NC, surrounded by his loving family.

James Earl Lassiter, affectionately known as “Jimmie” by his loving wife and “Frogg” by most of his friends and family, transitioned from this earth on July 18, 2024, at home surrounded by a loving family. Jimmie was Born on June 2, 1957, to Preston Lassiter Sr. and the late Rosa Mae Lassiter.

Born and reared in Wayne County, Jimmie was a devoted family man, a skilled mechanic, and a proud fan of The Carolina Panthers football team. On March 12, 1999, Tonya Lassiter joined him in holy matrimony. Together, they shared 25 years of marriage and 34 years of love and companionship. Jimmie’s commitment to his family was unwavering; he was a provider, a protector, and a source of strength and love. He cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren, creating countless memories through family trips and gatherings. They were the light of his life. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and found great joy in their presence. Whether attending their events, sharing stories, or simply spending time together, Jimmie’s love for his children and grandchildren was evident to all who knew him. His legacy of devotion and care for his family will continue to inspire and guide them in the years to come. Jimmie had a remarkable talent for cooking and found immense joy in preparing meals for his family.

He was renowned for his delicious collard greens, chitterlings, BBQ, sweet tea, and his most famous chocolate cake, just to name a few. His culinary creations were more than just food; they were expressions of his love that brought his family together.

Jimmie was a member of Pathway to Life United Holiness Church, where he accepted Jesus as his Savior. As he persevered over the past months with remarkable courage and strength, he found solace in the lyrics of Fantasia’s song “He’s Done Enough,” particularly holding onto the words, “He blessed me once, He blessed me twice, He keeps right on blessing me every day of my life.” If the Lord never does anything else for me, He’s done enough.” He also drew strength from Rance Allen’s song “Something About the Name Jesus. ” Jimmie exhibited great faith as he could often be heard reassuring his wife, saying, “Tonya or (Roshell), Everything is going to be Alright. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Mae (Wootsie) Lassiter, one maternal sister, Natalena Lassiter, and one paternal sister, Judy C. Bass. In the hearts of those who loved him, he will forever be cherished by his devoted wife, whom he loved immensely, Tonya Lassiter, his father; Preston Lassiter Sr., mother-in love, Linda Rorie, seven children; Treecy Bynum of Rocky Mount NC, Isha Lassiter of Pikeville, NC, Jerkita Morant of Goldsboro, NC, Laquita Gross of Goldsboro, NC, Jameire Lassiter of Charlotte, NC, Jameka Lassiter of Goldsboro, NC, And Toshika Lassiter (“Baby Girl”) of Pikeville, NC, one sister; Tammy Lassiter of Columbia, SC and two brothers; Preston Lassiter Jr. of Stantonsburg, NC and Anthony Rowe of Clinton, NC, three special aunts Dixie Reid, Gloria Vick and Renita Todd, a special uncle Mark Lane, a special cousin, June Ruffin, 20 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Jimmie’s presence in our lives will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, dedication, and family will live on in our hearts forever.
