On Tuesday afternoon, the County of Wayne released an update on Tropical Storm Debby.
Wayne County is projected to receive between 10 and 15 inches of rain Tuesday through Friday, potentially causing flash flooding, especially in low-lying, poor drainage, and flood-prone areas.
Wayne County residents are reminded if they encounter a flooded roadway, turn around, and don’t drown. Do not try to cross through flood waters.
Wind gusts between 25 and 40 mph are expected late Thursday into Friday.
While flooding will be the primary hazard, the wind coupled with the saturated ground could cause trees to fall, leading to downed trees and power outages.
Do not call 911 to report a power outage. Please report outages to your utility provider.
There is also the possibility of isolated, weak tornados from Thursday into Friday, as Wayne County is on the east side of the storm’s circulation.
Wayne County remains under a flood watch until 9 p.m. on Friday.
