The Wayne County Board of Education approved the following administrative changes at Monday’s regularly scheduled Board meeting:
Greenwood Middle School principal, Nelson Cunningham, was named principal of Charles B. Aycock High School. He is replacing Tod Morgan, who is taking a position outside of Wayne County Public Schools.
Cunningham has 21 years of teaching and school administrative experience, and has served in his current role since 2022. In addition to being a graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School, he also taught mathematics there earlier in his career.
Cunningham holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education and a master’s degree in school administration.
“Mr. Cunningham’s administrative experience and understanding of Charles B. Aycock High’s school community will make him an asset to the students, staff and families,” said Dr. Marc Whichard, Superintendent.
Wayne County Public Schools assistant director of Career & Technical Education, Tasha Sneed, was named the principal of Greenwood Middle School.
Sneed has 24 years of instructional assistance, teaching, school administrative, and district administrative experience. She has served in her current role since 2023.
Sneed holds a bachelor’s degree in family and consumer science education and a master’s degree in school administration. She also holds a national board certification.
“Our district administration will support Mr. Cunningham and Ms. Sneed in their transitions,” added Dr. Whichard. “We will also work to support them in their efforts to help their respective schools continue to build academic success in the coming year.”
In preparation for the upcoming school year, the Board also approved the following assistant principal change: Sharon Britt (Fremont Elementary.)
