Nancy Annette Nylund Brown, 88, passed away peacefully at her home in Fuquay Varina on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Born in Los Angeles County, CA on September 12, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Noble Nylund and Edith Marie Sutter Nylund.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, David Hurst Brown.
Nancy is survived by her children, Carolyn Sloan and husband, Dennis, and Timothy Brown and wife, Karen; grandsons, Kyle Sloan, Jared Brown and wife, Becca, and Drew Brown and wife, Narda; great-grandchildren, Bennett Brown and Reagan Brown; brother, Allan Nylund; and sister, Carolyn Tweedie. Nancy is also survived by many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
A devoted Christian, Nancy’s primary goal in life was to maintain a close relationship with her Lord. She lived her faith openly and would share with others often of her Lord and Savior. Being very active in church, Nancy taught Sunday school and served in many young women’s ministries for the church. Nancy also loved to travel. No matter the destination or adventure, Nancy was always a shining light of Jesus Christ to a lost world.
Nancy was a devoted military spouse. No matter the assignment her husband received, she would be right by his side. For Nancy, family was always paramount in her life. Whether it be a camping trip, a road trip, or a beach trip, she would always make sure her family felt safe and secure. Nancy will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
A service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Seymour Funeral Home. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. A private internment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Tunnel to Towers Foundation 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 in memory of Nancy.
