Wayne STEM Academy, a tuition-free, STEM (science, technology, engineering, & mathematics) focused, public charter school in Goldsboro has announced the opening of additional buildings for the 2024-25 school year.
The board’s recent addition of the building adjacent to their existing learning cottages will help WSA serve the growing population of scholars.
Board Chair Chretien Dumond views the school’s physical expansion as being very well-timed.
“Wayne County, Goldsboro, and the surrounding communities have enthusiastically embraced our school and our academic model,” Dumond said. “Our dramatic increase in enrollment as we enter our second year made it essential that we move decisively and add space for our scholars. The opportunity to utilize the space next door from Generation Church makes it possible to manage our growth in the coming years.”
The new additional building will include two discrete sections. “Lancer” will be the new home for rising second grade students and “The Command Center” will host administrators, a leadership team, and front office staff. The new lobby will also house “The Hangar”, the WSA Before & After School Program.
WSA Executive Director Dr. Todd Forgette is eager to welcome WSA Wildcats to the school’s newest additions,
“The excitement in the air for our new school year is amazing,” Forgette said. “With the help from our support group as well as local contractors, we’ve been able to prepare this new space in time for the start of school. WSA will be increasing our enrollment by over 150 students this year and the added facilities will play a major part in allowing us to continue to achieve our academic standards. We can’t wait to get started.”
Wayne STEM Academy will hold an Open House for scholars on Aug. 22nd from 5:15 pm to 7.
Wayne STEM Academy is open to all North Carolina students and currently serves Kindergarten – 4th grade scholars. WSA will continue to grow an additional grade level each year.
The school will serve Kindergarten – 5th grade during the 2025-2026 school year. For more information about Wayne STEM Academy or to enroll visit WayneSTEM.org
