Wayne County Bridge Will Be Replaced

A 65-year-old and functionally obsolete bridge in Wayne County will be replaced.

Fred Smith Co. of Raleigh will replace the Rosewood Road bridge spanning Beaver Dam Creek west of Goldsboro after the N.C. Department of Transportation awarded an $814,000 contract last month.

The contractor will start the project this fall, but a date has not yet been determined. The contractor will have 14 months to complete the new bridge and reopen the road.

When the road is closed to begin the project, detour signs will be utilized on Rosewood, Old Smithfield, Princeton, and Oakland Church roads.

The department will post information about the closure at DriveNC.gov; people may search under “Wayne County” to find this upcoming incident.
