Donnie Ray Lucas, 72, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family. Donnie was born in Wilson County to the late David and Addie Lucas on February 26, 1952. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Lynn Lucas; sisters, Lissie Lucas and Elsie Barnes; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patsy and Edwin Braswell.

Donnie was a dedicated and hardworking family man who spent most of his career in heating and air conditioning maintenance. He was the owner and operator of A-1 Heating and Air Conditioning in Goldsboro. Donnie’s commitment to providing for his family was unwavering. He approached every task with meticulous care and precision. When Donnie was not working you could find him either drag racing or watching a good race at the drag strip.

Donnie’s greatest love was for his family. He was proud of each of his children and grandchildren and made sure to stay involved in their lives.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Donnie’s life will be held in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Wes Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Black Creek Cemetery.

Donnie is survived by his sons, Steve Lucas and wife Leigha, Jamie Lucas and wife, Amanda, Scott Lucas, and Corey Lucas and wife Kathryn; his girlfriend, Lily Sutton; and his beloved grandchildren, Sawyer, Ashley, Addison, Andrew, Robert, Laura, Jarred, Stevie and Olivia. He is also survived by his brother, Charlie Lucas; and sisters, Alice Jenkins and Teresa Lucas.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given in Donnie’s memory to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
