Mary Ruth Odom Bizzell, 96, passed away at Helping Hands Assisted Living in Goldsboro on Saturday, August 31, 2024.  She was born in Johnston County on June 5, 1928, to the late John Smith Odom and Carrie Ann Worley Odom.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, E. V. Thompson and James Kenneth Bizzell; brothers, Melvin Odom and Ray Odom; a sister, Peggy Radford and a stepson, Ronald Lewis Bizzell.

Mary Ruth is survived by brother, James Odom of Smithfield; sisters, Ila Hill of Pikeville, Elizabeth Radford of Goldsboro, and Brenda “Sis” Gurley of Smithfield as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations.

The funeral service will be held in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations at 6:00 pm on Thursday, September 5, 2024, with Pastor Dennis Pollock officiating. Private Burial will be in Bizzell Grove Church Cemetery.
