Martha Moore Dillon Hawks, 88, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, surrounded by her family. Formerly of Bluefield, West Virginia, Martha was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bunyan Webster Dillon. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bunyan W. Dillon, III.
Martha was very active during Roy’s service to the United States Air Force, which lasted 25 years. They proudly served together. Roy and Martha enjoyed a long and loving marriage of seventy years and ten months. She retired from Sears and Roebucks after 23 years of dedicated service.
Martha is survived by her husband, Roy L. Hawks; three children, Jean Hawks of Goldsboro, David Hawks (Pat) of Seven Springs, and Julie Magnotti (David) of Niceville, Fl. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Dillon Hawks and Heather Hawks; and three step-grandchildren, Caine, Ryan, and Jacob Waldrop.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Martha’s life at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Ron Varner of New Life Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
