On Aug. 10 at approximately 2:49 a.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to an alert from the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system of multiple rounds fired in the 800 block of N. Audubon Ave.
Upon arrival, officers located a 15-year-old female suffering from a single gunshot wound.
Wayne County EMS personnel arrived and pronounced the victim deceased. Deputies from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist with crime scene security.
The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau was contacted and responded to the scene. Investigators and crime scene specialists began interviews and processing evidence. This is still an active investigation.
During the course of this investigation, a suspect was developed in the homicide of the 15-year-old female juvenile victim.
On Thursday, a warrant for an open count of murder was secured on Quamaree Sayonta Davis, 20, LaGrange.
On Friday, at approximately 11:36 a.m., Davis was taken into custody without incident while at the Wilson County Courthouse.
Davis was left in the custody of the Wilson County Detention Center without bond pending a first appearance on Monday.
This investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are possible.
