WCSO Releases Statement on Recent School Threats

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office released a statement on Wednesday regarding the recent social media threats made towards multiple Wayne County Public Schools.

That statement read:

Over the past two weeks, Deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office have investigated several school threats that were made over social media platforms.

Various Wayne County Schools have been affected by these threats. Deputies have worked tirelessly to determine whether these threats are valid in an effort to ensure all Wayne County School students are safe.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the State Bureau of Investigation have assisted with these investigations, and they are constantly monitoring and providing local law enforcement agencies with intel.

As a result of these investigations, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of pursuing criminal charges against those responsible.

The safety of our children in Wayne County is paramount, and Sheriff Pierce states that any threat of violence against any school will be thoroughly investigated, and those responsible will be charged.
